Charter Schools

Charter schools have gained more and more popularity over the past couple of years because they are affordable and usually have a specific subject emphasis. For instance, some charter programs are science-based, whereas other charter schools are based more around the arts. This is a really great idea if you have a kid who is really passionate about one particular subject. Although they will still do a little bit of all subjects, the main emphasis will be on the one the school is based on. When you are looking into charter school enrollment packages, just make sure that the curriculum fits exactly what your child is looking for. 

Dual Immersion Programs

If you want your child to learn another language, then consider putting them into a dual immersion program. Dual immersion programs are schools where they speak English half of the day and half of the day in another language like French or Spanish. The great thing about these programs is that since they are being spoken to so much in the second language, they are more likely to learn the language. Plus, the teachers are only allowed to speak that language to them and not any English. 

Private School 

Another option that you have is to put your child into a private school. Although many private schools are religious, they aren't all that way. If you do find a religious school, but you aren't religious, you can talk to the headmaster about having your child opted out of the religious classes. That way they still get a good education, but you don't feel like they are being indoctrinated. When looking for a private school, look for one that has good test scores and that helps kids get into really good middle schools and high schools. When you start your kid out in a right private elementary school, it's easier for them to get into a good middle school.
